The Second Step Into Yoga

As I mentioned in a post earlier this month, the first act of Yoga is to close your eyes.  This begins the journey into stillness and silence.

The second act of Yoga is to find your breath. This connects us with the source of life itself and brings us more fully into the eternal present moment. Breathe deeply and fully, slowly and smoothly, always through the nose. Remember what a gift it is to breathe, what a gift it is to be you, what a gift it is to be.

Allow every exhale to be a deeper surrender into the heart. A letting go. Releasing what you need to release. Letting go of past hurts, angers and fears. Letting go of judgments, worries and desires. Then drink life again as an affirmation, a meditation, an immersion into the pure joy of being. Just being.

There is nothing we need to do right now. Nowhere to go. Nothing to know. Just breathing. Just being. Drinking in life… And letting go.

The second step into Yoga is to find your breath.
